Overdraft Protection

An overdraft occurs when you don't have enough money in your checking account to cover a transaction. If you write a check, use your debit card or send a bill payment that would cause your account to go negative, the transaction may be declined (due to Non-Sufficient Funds) or you may overdraw your account into a negative balance.

To avoid this, we offer two overdraft protection options to cover you.

Savings Overdraft Transfers

We can automatically transfer money from your savings into checking to cover the transaction, for a small service fee. This will prevent an Overdraft or NSF fee and also protect you from returned checks.

Overdraft Privilege

Eligible members can avoid the embarrassment and cost of returned checks or declined transactions, even if there are not sufficient funds for an automatic overdraft transfer from a savings account. If you qualify for Overdraft Privilege and would like the Credit Union to authorize and pay one-time debit card transactions you will need to Opt-In*.

Overdraft Privilege is a discretionary service offered to members in good standing, which honors checking overdrafts up to $1,000*. Should you inadvertently overdraw your account, we have the discretion to cover your overdraft**.  This could save you the embarrassment and inconvenience of a returned item, as well as the fees charged to you by merchants for the returned items. Overdraft Privilege applies to transactions by check, withdrawal at a teller window, ACH withdrawal or one-time debit card transactions (if you opt-in).

Please keep in mind, Overdraft Privilege is a courtesy, not a right. The Credit Union is not obligated to pay any item that would cause an account to overdraft.
