Overdraft Privilege FAQs

Can I use my debit card to access my Overdraft Privilege?
Yes! If your account qualifies for Overdraft Privilege, you can authorize the Credit Union, or  Opt-In,  to pay one-time debit card transactions that would overdraw your account up to negative $1,000.00.

How do I Opt In?

  • Request an Overdraft Services Consent form be sent for your electronic signature by sending a secure message through Online Banking or by calling a representative at 860-828-2790 option 5.
  • Click Opt In to print, sign and mail the Overdraft Services Consent form to the Credit Union at the address listed on the form, or fax it to 860-828-6053.
  • Visit a branch and sign the Overdraft Services Consent form in person.

What if I qualify for Overdraft Privilege but I do not want my one-time debit card transactions authorized?
One-time debit card transactions will only be authorized if you sign an Overdraft Services Consent form to Opt In. If you have not signed a form, you will not be Opted In. If you would like to revoke a prior authorization to Opt In, you would sign another Overdraft Services Consent form and select Opt Out.

What if I qualify for Overdraft Privilege but I don’t want it?
The peace of mind knowing that you are protected from a miscalculation or an unexpected expense is free! You are only charged a Non-Sufficient funds fee for overdrawing your account, but you would avoid the embarrassment and additional fees if the item were returned. If you prefer not to have this protection available, contact a representative and we will be happy to disable the service.

Why am I charged different amounts for Non Sufficient Funds Fees?
We understand how easy it is to make a minor miscalculation in your checkbook. As a courtesy, we have lowered the Non-Sufficient and Uncollected funds fee to $5.00 if the transaction involved overdraws your account less than negative $30.00. Items returned will continue to incur a $30.00 fee.

How do I know if I qualify for Overdraft Privilege?
Contact a representative today by sending a secure message through Online Banking, calling a representative at 860-828-2790 option 5 or by visiting a branch.
